Action with Communities in Rural Kent

Action with Communities in Rural Kent is a Registered Charity established in 1923 and is one of 37 Rural Community Councils in the UK. Every county has an RCC whose main objective is to ensure that people living in rural communities are not disadvantaged through geographical location.

In Kent we are particularly successful and are recognised as one of the leaders in innovation, with projects spanning all rural activities from rural transport to welfare to work, from affordable housing to community-led planning and from supporting young people to finding new solutions for older people living in rural isolation.

We are especially well recognised in the context of European partnership working. We have a number of trans-national projects including Lifelong Learning, Gruntvig and Leonardo programmes. We coordinate the Greener Futures for Young People project, which is one of only 7 projects funded under this strand of the Progress Programme.
