Meeting in UK

Event Date:
Wednesday, 19 October, 2011

On 18th and 19th of October 2011, Action with Communities in Rural Kent held the first of the five events that the project Greener Futures for Young People (a “Progress” project) will have in the next year, with the participation of several partners from Europe: Diagrama Foundation, from UK, Basta, from Nykvarn in Sweden, ASPP from Agen in France and Fundación Diagrama from Spain.

On 18th October the steering group meeting was held. The areas discussed included the background to the progress project, evaluation strategy, partnership policies, the main aspects of the budget and the strategies in general.

The project, Greener Futures for Young People was officially launched on Wednesday 19th of October at Singleton Environmental Centre, opened by Richard King, Vice Chair of Kent County Council, also Vice Chair of Action with Communities in Rural Kent. This was the opportunity for the partners to present themselves.

A large number of representatives from not for profit organisations and social enterprises had an opportunity to join together for networking and exchanging good practice. They heard how the project expects to be able to develop new ideas to support young people finding jobs for themselves through entrepreneurship. The project gives young people the chance to do worthwhile work experience in local not for profit groups, helping the groups to develop new projects whilst also developing their own skills.
