About Us

GREENER FUTURES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE ….. and good times ahead for the Not for Profit Sector across Europe.

Good strong partnership work is the key to the success of this new innovative project coordinated by Action With Communities in Rural Kent with partners, Fundación Diagrama Psicosocial in Spain, Neo Humanys in France and Basta! Sweden.

Success came in May 2011 when a long-awaited reply arrived from the Directorate General Employment & Social Affairs in Brussels. A funding bid was put in a year earlier to the PROGRESS Programme and competition was stiff.

The European Commission approved just 14 projects in the 2011 Round of funding and all projects were based on Exchange of Good Practice. The Greener Futures partnership won through and was awarded 237,604 euros to test new ways of creating new jobs for young people. (approx 80% of the total project cost).

This one-year project takes good practice from each partner organisation and builds it into a new Model to support community entrepreneurship and social enterprise.

Empowerment, Social Franchising, Community Integration and raising the profile of the Not for Profit Sector are key ingredients. Each country hosts an important seminar to promote its work and the work of its partners.

WHAT IS PROGRESS?

It is a European Funding Initiative designed to combat all forms of discrimination and exclusion. PROGRESS promotes equal opportunities and helps develop skills, it supports projects that find new ways of tackling unemployment. PROGRESS projects test new approaches and analyse results, influencing future policy and helping to create equality of opportunity across Europe.

The PROGRESS Programme is very competitive and projects must be rather special to be selected for funding. The European Commission provides up to 80% of the total cost of selected projects.
